Local Author Laura Kaye Spotlights Annapolis Landmarks, Greek Gods, State of the Bay in New Book

Romantic Times Magazine Calls Hearts of the Anemoi a favorite returning paranormal series. Book two, West of Want, captures the spirit and essence of boating, culture, and romance on the Chesapeake Bay.

July 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Fort Collins, Colorado - Today, Entangled Select announces the release of West of Want, the second book in the Hearts of the Anemoi series written by Annapolis native, Laura Kaye. Fans of Gena Showalter and Elisabeth Naughton will love this captivating tale about an unpredictable Supreme God of the West Wind who nearly kills a young divorcee in a violent storm of grief. He risks his godhood to heal her, only to place her in even more danger when his malevolent brother notices their bond. Laura Kaye is currently working on the third book in the Hearts of the Anemoi series, South of Surrender. Look for it in 2013 from Entangled Publishing.

Laura Kaye will host a book signing party at Ukazoo Books located at 730 Dulaney Valley Road in Towson, Maryland on July 14, 2012, from 1-3 p.m. The author will read excerpts from her novel and sign books for fans. Those interested in attending the signing are encouraged to make reservations by contacting the store manager at (410) 832-2665.

All the books in the series are based on Greek mythology and make use of Maryland landmarks. “I set most of my stories in places with which I’m familiar, and I’ve been just waiting for a chance to use my hometown as a playground for my characters,” says Kaye. In West of Want, the heroine lives in a house on Eastern Avenue in Eastport, docks her sailboat at Horn Point Harbor Marina, and patronizes area restaurants readers will recognize, including Pusser’s Caribbean Grille Restaurant at 80 Compromise Street in Annapolis, Maryland, where a key scene in the book takes place.

The hero and heroine also have a romantic date sailing on the Chesapeake. “I think people familiar with Annapolis will get a kick out of imagining Zeph and Ella being at places they know and love. And, after reading West of Want, people will never be able to drive across the Bay Bridge again without thinking of Greek Gods,” Kaye adds.

“But the book has a serious side, too,” Kaye said. “You can’t live around the Bay without being aware of the challenges that waterway faces.” As the other books in the series also do, West of Want sees its characters concerned about and trying to solve environmental issues. “As a child, I went boating and crabbing with my dad and, as a teenager, I attended an overnight field trip at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Fox Island Lodge,” Kaye explains. “Those early experiences shaped my love of the Bay. I’m proud that restoring the Chesapeake is part of this book.”

ZephyrosMartius is the Supreme God of the West Wind and Spring, but being the strongest Anemoi hasn't protected him from betrayal and loss. Worse, he's sure his brother Eurus is behind it. When Zeph's heartbreak whips up a storm that shipwrecks a human, his guilt forces him to save her.

Ella is drawn to the vulnerability Zeph hides beneath his otherworldly masculinity and ancient blue eyes. And her honesty, empathy, and unique, calming influence leave Zeph wanting...everything.
