Melky Cabrera All-Star MVP Wearing Franklin Batting Glove

July 11, 2012 - PRLog -- San Francisco Giants starting centerfielder Melky Cabrera, wearing Franklin Sports batting gloves, powered the National League to victory in last night’s All-Star game en route to Most Valuable Player honors.  Cabrera, baseball’s hit leader (119) at the break, and batting a torrid .353, singled and scored, and then slugged a two-run homer to pace the N.L. to an 8-0 victory over the A.L. in Kansas City.  Franklin is the maker of the “Official Batting Glove of Major League Baseball” and celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the batting glove.

Cabrera wears the Franklin model NEO CLASSIC® gloves.

It was the second straight year that the All-Star MVP wore Franklin gloves. Last year, Milwaukee ’s Prince Fielder, who homered to lead the N.L. to victory, was a Franklin glove wearer.

Franklin had eight All-Star selections wearing the brand, including three starters – Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton (.308), the all-time single-season vote-getter in balloting history with over 11 million votes, in the American League; first baseman Joey Votto (.348) of the Cincinnati Reds, and Melky in the National League.

The five Franklin reserves included: Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera (.323); Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko (.333); and Cleveland Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera (.293) in the American League; and National League catchers Carlos Ruiz (.350) of the Philadelphia Phillies, and Yadier Molina (.309) of the St. Louis Cardinals. Molina is on bereavement leave and did not play in the All-Star Game.
