XYIENCE Provides Xenergy Cans to Recycle into Art for XenArt: The Energy of Art Contest

July 11, 2012 - PRLog -- LAS VEGAS — XYIENCE Xenergy, the official energy drink of the UFC ® is sponsoring XenArt: The Energy of Art, a national juried art exhibition. Submissions can be two-dimensional (2D), three-dimensional (3D), and photography. Submissions for the XenArt contest must interpret the contest’s theme: Power to Win™. Pieces must also feature the Xenergy can or be constructed of empty Xenergy cans.

On Friday, July 13 and Friday, July 20, 3D artists can pick up empty Xenergy cans to recycle into art for the contest. Can pick up is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at XYIENCE headquarters, located at 1335 E. Sunset Road in Las Vegas. Artists are asked to take only the amount of cans needed to complete a project allowing all artists to take advantage of the available cans.

Submissions are accepted digitally starting Friday, July 13 through Monday, August 6 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time at www.facebook.com/XYIENCE. The contest is free to enter and is open to all artists over the age of 18 who reside in the United States. For complete contest rules, please visit www.xyience.com/XenArt.

One grand prizewinner will receive $1,000 plus a one-year supply of XYIENCE Xenergy, a second-place winner will receive $500 plus prizes, and the third-place winner will receive $250 plus prizes. There will also be a People’s Choice Award.

Twenty finalists will be selected during the first round of judging. Finalists will be notified by XYIENCE on Monday, August 13. A jury will review the 20 finalists and select the top three winners; work will be evaluated based on originality, creativity and interpretation of concept/theme; quality of composition/construction and overall artistic quality.  The winners will be announced on Friday, August 31.

The public can vote for their favorite among the 20 finalists during the People’s Choice Award voting period that is Monday, August 27 through Friday, August 31 at 6 p.m. Pacific Time at www.facebook.com/XYIENCE.

Finalists will be showcased at the XenArt: The Energy of Art show and VIP red carpet reception on Friday, August 31 at the Amanda Harris Gallery of Contemporary Art and The Lady Silvia in downtown Las Vegas. (900 S. Las Vegas Boulevard) The event that’s hosted by UFC fighter and XYIENCE athlete Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy is by invitation only from 7 to 10 p.m. and is open to the public after 10 p.m. Winners will be announced at 8:30 p.m.

The evening will also include a special showcase of artists who are part of the mixed martial arts (MMA) industry. The event coincides with UFC® 151: Jones vs. Henderson, which takes place on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.
