Connecticut celebrates Jamaica 50th Independence Celebration Gala

Aug. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Join the celebration of Jamaica's 50th year of independence.  This once in a lifetime milestone will feature keynote address from Herman G. LaMont, Consul General of Jamaica to New York; Mistress of Ceremonies Linnet Carty, Columnist/T.V. Host and a special performance by Janice Hart as Miss Matty Lou Folklorist and other entertainment.  Business owners and community leaders will be awarded for their contribution to the progression of the Jamaican legacy.

The celebration is taking place at the New Haven Lawn Club, 193 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT on Thursday, August 30, 2012 beginning at 7:00pm with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres followed by dinner and performances.  Proceeds from this event will benefit the Miss Connecticut West Indies Scholarship Pageant.  An education scholarship pageant for students of Jamaican heritage entering college/university.  This year the scholarship fund awarded $1,000 in scholarship money to three students.  The golden jubilee celebration will close with dancing to the sounds of Starry Nite Entertainment.
