Breaking cycles of bad behavior through heiroglyphs, imagery and drawing inside the drawing by Brian A. Kenny

Kenny’s work can appear dark when it is absent of the viewers frame of reference. However it contains a deeper layer through his use of esoteric symbolism.

In his eighth book, charcoal and ink artist Brian A. Kenny has created work that summons his audience to bend their minds and interact in reflection. Each piece can either stand alone or be imagined to a greater whole in telling a visual story. How does he establish this inter-continuity? Kenny conceptualizes the pieces to scenes that orchestrate like dancers to a complex can-can. Drive, thirst, and emotion is evoked in symbolism. Snakeskin Subtext's central character is a toad who was turned into a snake by the angel Uriel in the Garden of Eden. The toad became possessed by the jealous angel who convinced Eve to eat the fruit. In this, depictions of self control, ignoring bad influences, and redemption/forgiveness all become subtextual themes.
