Motorcycle Helmets with Bluetooth

July 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Those against mandatory helmet laws often claim that helmets reduce vision and hearing, which leads to more accidents and cause spine and neck injuries.

The University of Southern California concluded that wearing a helmet does not increase the probability of an accident.

It also concludes that wearing a helmet does not reduce vision or hearing, or increase the probability. Helmets come in full faced, three-quarter, skullcap and motocross varieties.

Full faced and motocross helmets offer the most protection. Full face helmets have the advantage of incorporating a face shield and chin bar.

A helmet that fits properly is snug, but comfortable. Cheek pads should fit tightly to your face. There should be no gaps at the temples or the brow.

The Snell foundation makes the following recommendations:

(2) have the helmet inspected if it ever receives a severe blow:

(5) never hang the helmet on a projection, such as a bikes sissy bar or rear view mirrors, which will damage the soft liner:

(6) use only warm water and a few drops of mild cleaner to clean the helmet;

(7) replace it, that has been damaged. Helmets need to be replaced about every 2 to 4 years because the padding wears out and/or show integrity is compromised through normal use.

Replace any helmet that may have been damaged in an accident or through simple abuse such as falling off your motorcycle enrolling 120 feet downhill coming to arrest under your bike. Unseen cracks developing from the small episodes of abuse can compromise the integrity of them.
