July 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Cocktail drinks are categorized in a number of ways. They can be identified according to what how they are served – highball, low-ball, straight, on the rocks or tall. They can be known for the main ingredient that is used – Gin-based, Vodka-based or Tequila based, for example. Or they can be differentiated in a general sense as alcoholic or non alcoholic cocktail drinks. But there’s probably no other demarcation popularly used as that of being a “ladies” or “men’s” drink.

Yes, men are not just made for beer, whiskey and scotch. They too enjoy the occasional cocktail drinks after work hours. And unlike the common notion, they don’t just stick to simple concoctions like Martinis, Gin and Tonic, Tom Collins or the Sidecar. Some of the more flavorful alcoholic mixtures they indulge in include the Old Fashioned, Screwdriver, Bloody Mary, Manhattan and Mint Julep. As far as non alcoholic cocktail drinks go, they pretty much just stick to ginger ale. But they do take advantage of Roy Rogers and Arnold Palmers when they are obliged to drive after a party.

Women, in contrast, are more flexible when it comes to the cocktail drinks they order. But there will always be a line-up of fruity beverages in their order list. First up would be the Cosmopolitan, followed by the Margarita, and then the Mojito. Women are also a fan of Martinis. But instead of the dry variety, they order those that are laced with fruit flavors like the Pear Martini or the Appletini. And on that note, they also like tropical servings of Long Island Iced Teas, Pina Coladas and Strawberry Daiquiris. Women also like their cocktails sweet so it would be no surprise to find them ordering Mudslides and the Madera Eggnog. When it comes to non alcoholic cocktail drinks, women like to get themselves Shirley Temples, Virgin Mary’s, Winter Warmers and Sophisticated Ladies.

Of course, this is not to say that each gender is only limited to exploring what drinks are originally made for them. There are men who are not as tolerant of the high alcohol content their particular cocktail options have. And there are women who are just into getting drunk. Whichever is the case, it wouldn’t hurt to try out all the possible mixtures in existence and just live a little, on drink at a time.
