July 29, 2012 - PRLog -- The Gothic World of Lady Sybilla, http://www.ladysybilla.com/, presents Somber Beloved, The Candy Candy Movie, which is a Gothic sequel to the anime/manga series from Japan, Candy Candy.  In Somber Beloved, Terry Grandchester returns as a Byronic hero with a dark secret.  The story also brings back Albert White Andrey, who is now involved in a twisted love triangle with Candy and Terry.

Backstory for the Candy Candy Movie

Somber Beloved starts ten years after Candy White Andrey and Terry Grandchester said goodbye for the last time in New York.  As you may remember, the moment Candy found out that Susannah had sacrificed herself for Terry, she wanted nothing more to do with him, because she came to believe that Terry was obligated to marry Susannah and take care of her for the rest of his life.

The Candy Candy Movie was inspired by an unsatisfactory ending for the fans of Candy and Terry

Shortly after Candy and Terry bid each other farewell, promising to one another that they would be happy, the series comes to an end during which Candy returns to Pony's Home in Michigan and finds out that the mysterious Prince of the Hill she once met in front of the Rose Portal is none other than Albert White Andrey.  And not only that, but Albert also turned out to be Grandpa William, the one who had adopted Candy and made her a part of the Andrey Family.

Fan petition for The Candy Candy Movie

Most Candy Candy fans were left very frustrated by this ending, but no matter how much we pleaded with the author for a continuation of the story in which Candy reunited with Terry, Kyoko Mizuki went to court instead to fight a legal battle against the illustrator of the manga, Yumiko Igarashi, and in the end, Candy and Terry fans were left with nothing, since Mizuki-san never wrote anything about Candy again, and Igarashi-san was banned from creating any more illustrations.

At last, The Candy Candy Movie

Still, the nostalgic love we feel for this legendary couple, Candy and Terry, has kept the dream alive in our hearts for almost four decades.  We will see Candy and Terry reunite no matter what it takes.  And if the author has refused to grant the fans our wish, we must continue the story ourselves, because the story is ours, too.

This is why Lady Sybilla, creator of The Gothic World of Lady Sybilla (http://ladysybilla.com/), decided to write Somber Beloved in screenplay format, since she has the intention of animating it with vector graphics and to create settings with 3D models.  The Candy Candy Movie will premiere exclusively on YouTube and will be broken into episodes.

There is no exact date set yet for the premiere of The Candy Candy Movie, but the first three parts are already available to read for free on Lady Sybilla's Official Blog.  To read Somber Beloved, all you have to do is click on the links below:
