According to owner Bruce Marshall: "We have gone far beyond the traditional bike shop. We not only offer what we believe to be the best possible bicycles, components, clothing and accessories available in Orange County or Los Angeles, we have created a fully equipped training center where our clients can get a fantastic professional fitting, and then find out what their VO2 Max and Anaerobic Threshold is and what to do about it." Marshall is expecting a huge turnout for the Bicycle Bash. "We certainly figure a lot of folks will be interested in winning a $4,550 Giant Bicycle. The Giant TCR Advanced 0 Road Bicycle leaves nothing to chance. This is the same model bike ridden to Olympic Gold Medal victory by Holland’s Marianne Vos in the women’s road race. It boasts the ultimate in carbon construction for a feathery, sub-2-pound frame that delivers pro-level responsiveness and unprecedented efficiency. The full composite fork delivers surgical steering precision, too, for the fastest, tightest lines and an ethereal ride. That world-class ride is complemented by Shimano's incredible Ultegra Di2 group. It puts the lightning-quick control and precision of electronic shifting at your fingertips. And, Giant's Contact bar and stem combo, fast-rolling Giant P-SL0 wheels and Fizik saddle complete this searing road rocket. Another huge draw is always the Giant demo truck. While we certainly encourage our customers to take a test ride on our shop bikes any day, this is a chance to ride some very serious road bikes for an hour, to really see what your future dream bike can do. TO DEMO A BIKE, here's all you'll need to have with you: (1) a valid driver's license, (2) a bicycle helmet, and (3) your own pedals if you want to ride something other than platform pedals. Giant Bicycles expected to be available for demo include the following: Available for Extended Rides Including Morning Shop Ride Defy Advanced XS, S, M, ML, L, XL TCR Advanced XS, S, M, ML, L, XL Avail Advanced XS, S, M TCR W Advanced XS, S, M Available for Short Rides in Sky Park Trinity Composite Rapid Escape (Men's & Women's) Via (Men's & Women's) Escape City With the bike demo trucks opening at 8:00, you may want to reserve a bike for the group rides that will be going out at 9:00. Or bring your own bike as we set out to ride the roads of Orange County. What about those demonstrations? According to senior fitting technician, Bob Murphy, "Being properly fit to your bicycle will improve power, increase endurance and stamina, and reduce the potential for injury. Moreover, for riders who have old injuries, the fitting can provide help in avoiding any harm. Riding a bicycle is an activity that can result in pain or numbness in hands, feet, knees, groin, neck, and back, especially over longer distances. A proper fit, and the use of strategically placed shoe inserts can reduce or eliminate almost any such joy killer." We use some very sophisticated tools for doing the professional fits, and as part of our Bike Bash, we are going to give interested guests a guided tour of how the equipment works and detail why it helps the rider to ride longer, faster, and just better all around." Another component of the SoCal Endurance Lab at a Road Bike 4U is designed to help any athlete reach his or her goals. If you're a cyclist, triathlete or runner, your goals might be to win specific races, win your age group or place better. Maybe you're just looking to set a Personal Record (PR) in your favorite century, triathlon or marathon. Or perhaps your goals are to maintain a certain body weight and fitness level. Whatever your goals might be, you stand a much better chance of reaching them by training according to a plan within Heart Rate and/or Power-based zones determined from your body's unique metabolic profile. A Metabolic stress test (or VO2 Max - Power/HR Threshold test) is the most accurate way of determining your training zones. During our demonstration of the VO2 Max equipment, volunteers will be encouraged to get on the machine for a short experience of the powerful information it can provide. But that isn't all. The day is jam packed with opportunities. Two clinics will be offered for those who would like to do some of their own maintenance and be able to do the most critical roadside repairs. While today's bikes are designed to be worry free, anything with moving parts, especially if those parts are exposed to the elements, is going to get dirty, and sometimes not function. These clinics will provide the basics about which tools to carry and best methods for quick and sure maintenance and repairs. To complete the fun, come at noon and participate in America's favorite new food pastime, the Food Truck Following. We've invited some of Orange County’s most tasty gourmet trucks to be on site from 12:00 until 1:30 or so. Details about the trucks and every other aspect of the days events will be posted on our website at http://www.ARoadBike4U.com and on our Facebook, Twitter, Blog, and through our regular emails. End
