Aug. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Attorney Kyle J. Humphrey recently defended an individual who was charged with a felony of oral copulation with a minor. This case was featured in The Bakersfield Californian and included an interview with Humphrey. The man was a former drum line coach and engaged in sex acts with a student. The individual was sentenced to 16 months in prison for his crime but the court ruled that he did not have to register as a sex offender. According to the Deputy District Attorney, the judge took into account the victim’s wishes, a psychiatric evaluation, and the results of the sex offender assessment which ranked the man as a low risk for future crimes.

Similarly, The Bakersfield Californian interviewed Jared Thompson for his defense of an individual who was charged with accepting a bribe as a public official. The man smuggled cellphones, phone equipment, and diet supplements to inmates at Taft Correctional Institution during his employment as an electrician for the facility. The man did not smuggle any illegal substances. In exchange, the man received $7,000 in cash for his efforts. The individual was sentenced to one year and one day of prison and was recommended by the judge that he participate in a Bureau of Prisons’ substance abuse treatment program. He will have to surrender himself on August 20, 2012 for completion of his sentence.
