Locals Search for a Diamond Engagement Ring Using Their Cell Phones

Aug. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Chicago, IL, 8/20/2012 -- Buying an engagement ring can be a daunting task. But instead of letting the cost of a diamond ring put their engagement on hold, local Chicago couples now have a new way to find a ring to put on her finger.

They’re using location-based, mobile gaming technology.

“We wanted to do something for the community that nobody else was doing,” said Stan Razny of Razny Jewelers. “By embracing this new technology, we’re able to give away a beautiful limited edition Artcarved diamond ring in a way that’s fun for everyone.”

Razny Jewelers is partnering with the Google-backed mobile gaming company, SCVNGR. By developing a location-based game accessible via mobile phone, Razny Jewelers is giving couples the ability to solve challenges from their cell phones at locations near Chicago’s Wrigelyville neighborhood to earn points for the chance to win a $15,000 ArtCarved Limited Edition diamond ring.

To sign up, couples are required to submit their stories on what they would do if they won the grand prize at www.RaznysDiamondDash.com. The grand prize diamond ring is being custom made for the diamond dash and will be on display later in month at all three Razny Jewelers’ locations along with details on how to play. Razny Jewelers three locations; 1501 West Lake Street, Addison, 1700 Green Bay Road, Highland Park & 37 South Washington Street, Hinsdale.

On Saturday, September 8, Razny's Diamond Dash participants will meet at John Barleycorn’s in Wrigelyville to begin the hunt. Teams of two will use their mobile phones to complete challenges at locations throughout Wrigelyville in hopes of winning;  1st Prize-$15,000 ArtCarved Limited Edition diamond ring, 2nd Prize-his & hers Tag Heuer Timepieces valued at $3,300 and 3rd Prize-a $500 Razny Jewelers’ gift card.
