Rob Timmer appointed Senior Partner with TBK Consult

Aug. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Rob Timmer joined TBK Consult in September 2011 after more than 24 years with Philips in the consumer electronics industry. Rob Timmer is heading up a new initiative from TBK Consult providing management consulting services to software-driven companies in the high volume consumer type markets.  

“Just 10 years ago, the home entertainment market - packaged content on CD or DVD - as well as TV and Radio broadcasting, were fairly distinct eco-systems, separate from the consumer electronics market that provided the devices to enjoy the content,” explains Rob Timmer, senior partner at TBK Consult. “Since then, the digitization of content has triggered an on-going convergence of technologies and standards, blurring the lines between the traditional business models. Today’s devices are more powerful, always ‘connected’, and offer a multi-functional platform for entertainment, information and communication services. On-demand music and video services are getting traction, while traditional TV operators are getting challenged by Cloud-based over-the-top television service providers. Yet, what hasn’t changed so much, basically, is the consumer. His needs, motives and way of behaving remain remarkably stable.  Deep consumer insight, understanding motives and behavior, is still the key to developing winning value propositions and growth for any new type of hardware, software and services.”

Since joining TBK Consult, Rob Timmer has been helping companies such as ActiveVideo Networks with selling their CloudTV solution, as well as IKEA with the development of their Uppleva Smart TV proposition.

RobTimmer has acquired shares in TBK Consult Holding ApS and will participate in setting the directions of the company. TBK Consult Holding ApS owns the right to the TBK Consult brand and concepts and drives the TBK Consulting activities worldwide.
