Follow on Google News | Amba restaurant in Hale receives a good review from Manchester ConfidentialWith its hearty portions and locally sourced ingredients, Amba in Hale scored highly with Manchester Confidential reviewer Jill Burdett.
By: theEword The Hale restaurant occupies the building that was once home to the Hale Wine Bar. While Burdett felt that the entrance bar area - with its dark wood and padded booths - was too clubby, the dining area had a much brighter feel with its simple tables, white panelled roof and feature lighting. The Manchester Confidential reviewer was also impressed with the menu. Amba has a specially designed seasonal set lunch and dinner where great emphasis is placed on fresh food and natural produce. Ingredients are sourced from small suppliers so that the Hale restaurant can support local business and provide diners with the best possible produce. Burdett was most impressed with the hearty main meals, which have proven popular with Hale residents looking to sate a healthy appetite. She described the three thick slices of pan fried duck as nicely pink and its accompanying vanilla and lime mash as inspired. The rump of lamp was also tasted, which came with grilled vegetables and delicious gravy. Burdett also selected two of the starters. From the Amba Hale menu, she chose an asparagus soup accompanied by homemade bread. She also tried the pan fried mackerel fillet, which was succulent despite its worryingly crisp skin.
