ISLA was selected to be 1 of the 196 non-profits to participate.
Through the utilization of social media networks, the Chase Community Giving program has already directed more than $20 million dollars toward charities nationwide, putting the power to bring positive change across the nation into the hands of those who need it most. Due to enthusiasm, the program is being continued this year, giving 196 charities, including ISLA the opportunity to win grants to further their mission. “ISLA is constantly striving to strengthen our community and our world by providing the educational tools and equipment to those in need. In the past 4 years, we have conducted 8 lifeguard training courses in 5 countries and rescued numerous people from drowning. Receiving even $10,000 would be an unbelievable opportunity to continue to provide the training, supplies, and emergency personal to areas in need around the world,” said ISLA Director, Olin Patterson. The Fall 2012 round of the Chase Community Giving program is designed to benefit smaller and local charities by being limited to 501(c)3 charities with operating budgets under $10 million. The top eligible charity receives $250,000 and the remaining 195 top charities earn $10,000 through $100,000 awards, for a total of $5 million dollars in grants. With the support of our volunteers, fans and local residents, ISLA has the opportunity to get much needed resources to implement big changes! Darwin Castro, a Nicaraguan, is a firm believer in the impact of ISLA, “ISLA volunteers coming to Nicaragua to train lifeguards always surprises me because it's a huge task. It is important realize that this type of activity can only be achieved together; and it would not be possible without the support of the people of ISLA. The truth is the members of ISLA deserve much respect, appreciation and gratitude. From the people of Nicaragua thank you very much!” How You Can Help You can help ISLA receive up to $250,000 by simply visiting Facebook.com/ If you have questions about ISLA or would like to get involved, please contact info@islasurf.org or call (949) 478-4752.
