By: TCSociety Friday August 31 – A gathering at the Getty Center museum to view the moon rise at 7:13 PM and watch the sun set over the ocean at 7:19 PM. The viewing will take place in the garden of the Getty Center museum and Tai Chi will be practiced from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The Getty Center is located at 1200 Getty Center Drive, approximately 12 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Admission to the Getty Center is free and no reservations are required. There is a $15 charge for parking. All activities are in the garden area from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Saturday, September 1 – There will be a second gathering at the Palisades Park in Santa Monica to again view the sunset and moon rise and practice Tai Chi. Palisades Park sits along Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica and the activities will take place between Idaho Avenue and Montana Avenue, again from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. With weather expected to be clear and temperatures in the 70’s, these should be spectacular nights to enjoy the Blue Moon. A Blue Moon occurs when there are more full moons during the year than usual. The next occurrence of the Blue Moon happens on Friday, August 31 and there is no better time to witness this natural event and participate in Tai Chi.
