Beier Howlett Celebrates Five Attorneys - Best Lawyers in America

Sept. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Five attorneys from Bloomfield Hills-based Beier Howlett, P.C. were recently selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2013 (Copyright 2012 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.). Of the five lawyers, two honorees have received the honor for more than 20 years while two others are new to the list this year.

Jeffrey Haynes has now been named to the Best Lawyers list for 25 consecutive years in the field of environmental law, while Stephen Jones marks 20 years in trust and estate planning recognition this year.  Timothy Currier, CEO of the firm, was named for his fourth year running in the field of municipal law.  First-time honorees included Jeffrey Kragt in municipal law and Frank Galgan in business law.

Haynes, a resident of Bloomfield Township, is the editor of the Michigan Environmental Law Deskbook.  He is also former chair of the Environmental Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and former chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association.  Haynes serves on the board of directors for the Kiwanis Club of Royal Oak.

Currier, a resident of Troy, has been CEO of Beier Howlett since 1995, practicing in the areas of municipal law, schools and education, and estate planning and probate law. Currier serves as city attorney for the city of Birmingham, and as attorney for the Dearborn Public Schools, Troy School District, Lapeer Community Schools, Lincoln Consolidated School District, the Birmingham Area Cable Board and the Intergovernmental Cable Communications Authority.  He was president of the Michigan Council of School Attorneys from 1990-1992.

Jones, a Royal Oak resident, served a chair of the Probate and Estate Planning Section for the State Bar of Michigan from 1988-1989.  He co-drafted legislation to repeal the Michigan Inheritance Tax.  Jones is fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, serves on the Board of Directors for the South Oakland Branch of the YMCA, and is a member of the Royal Oak Rotary Club.

Galgan is an experienced corporate attorney and commercial litigator specializing in contract, labor, employment and construction law. He has served more than 35 years as a AAA construction and commercial arbitration panelist.  

Kragt serves as city attorney for the city of Rochester, and is former president of the Rochester Bar Association.
