Dublin’s premier shopping location gets a car park to match

Sept. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- The Brown Thomas lifestyle retail store, one of the busiest and most prestigious retail locations in central Dublin and used by thousands of shoppers every day, has recently commissioned significant refurbishment works to their adjoining car park in order to enhance the user experience in terms of safety and aesthetics.  

The most pressing issues requiring immediate attention included replacing existing membranes on all ramps and installing coloured walkways and line markings throughout 1700sq m of the car park. This was complicated by the fact the parking facility needed to stay operational throughout the project, so works to ramps could only be carried out between midnight and 6am when the car park was closed.

Larsen Contracts, one of the most highly regarded contractors in Ireland, were appointed to advise and carry out the works. Having used their services for a number of years, the client (Tony Keogh & Sons) knew Larsen Contracts would be able to fulfil all requirements within the specified timeframe and also deliver an absolute top quality service along the way, which was a must for a project of this importance and profile.

After thorough assessment of all problem areas and requirements, Larsen Contracts decided to use the ultra fast curing and exceptionally durable Degafloor CP HD car park decking system. This highly innovative solution has been designed specifically to handle the demands of ramps and turning circles where enhanced grip is needed and where ‘wheel scrubbing’ can result in failure of traditional car park finishes.

In addition to providing an extremely durable crack-free performance, outstanding skid resistance and colour stability, the Degafloor CP HD car park system also benefits from an ultra fast 1 hour cure time, which meant the car park could stay operational throughout the works avoiding any potential loss of business.
