Dr. delCid Joins the Longest Established Team of Retinal Specialists in South Florida

Sept. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- As of August 15th, 2012, the Retina Group of Florida has added yet another retinal specialist to their growing team of experts throughout South Florida. Dr. Mario delCid joins the Retina Group after completing his fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery with the Cincinnati Eye Institute at the University of Cincinnati.

A South Florida native, delCid received his Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Psychology from Florida International University. He earned his Medical Degree from Tulane University and then completed his ophthalmology residency from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where he was awarded the Mary Bass Boenker Scholar Award, named Resident of the Year, and served as Chief Resident during his final year.

Dr. del Cid has a research interest in the use of non-steroidal therapeutics in ophthalmology and has presented his research at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He has multiple publications in various peer-reviewed journals. Dr. del Cid is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. del Cid is also Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, as well as, a voluntary Clinical Assistant Professor in the department of Ophthalmology at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University.

Dr. delCid treats patients at the Plantation, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, and Boca Raton office locations. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
