Follow on Google News | Ashworth College Recognized for Military Education Support with 2012-2013 Yellow Ribbon DesignationAshworth College, a leading online school, announced that the United States Veterans Administration has approved Ashworth for participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program for the 2012-2013 academic year.
By: Ashworth College Institutions that voluntarily enter into a Yellow Ribbon Agreement with the VA agree to provide matching funds to cover a portion of education-related expenses above and beyond what is offered under the Post 9/11-GI Bill. Participating schools choose the amount of tuition and fees that will be contributed and VA will match that amount and issue payment directly to the institution. "Ashworth College is proud to offer programs that support those serving in the U.S. military, their spouses and our military veterans and to make it possible for them to continue their education on their terms,” said Rob Klapper, Ashworth President and Chief Executive Officer. “Receiving the Yellow Ribbon designation is an honorable distinction for Ashworth.” Open only to U.S. Veterans, the Yellow Ribbon program supplements other government-funded educational benefits programs which currently pay up to the equivalent of the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition and fees. “Prior to the Yellow Ribbon program, veterans would be required to pay for the balance of their education out-of-pocket if they had exceeded their benefits,” said Rodney Butler, U.S. Army First Sergeant, Retired and Ashworth College Military Education Coordinator on behalf of the accredited online school. “Now veterans now get even more of their education paid for and since Ashworth College can charge as little as $64 per credit hour, it’s possible to graduate with zero out-of-pocket expenses.” Ashworth College is a Servicemember Opportunity Colleges Consortium (SOC) member school, accepts ACE credits and is approved for a range of other military benefits including Post 9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, GoArmyEd, and MyCAA. In addition to being recognized as a Yellow Ribbon School, Ashworth has been rated a military friendly school by both G.I. Jobs and Military Advanced Education magazines. The online school also sponsors the Army Wife Network Field Exercise series supports the The Fort Benning Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation. About The Yellow Ribbon Program The Yellow Ribbon Program was established by the Post-911Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 which allows institutions of higher learning (such as colleges, universities, and other degree-granting schools) in the United States to voluntarily enter into an agreement with Veterans Administration to fund remaining tuition and fees after depleting all other education benefits. This provides the possibility for veterans to earn a degree at no cost!
