Ashworth College Recognized for Military Education Support by G.I. Jobs

Sept. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- PEACHTREE CORNERS, Georgia – For the fourth consecutive year G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has awarded Ashworth College (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu), a leading online school, the designation of Military Friendly School® for its support of military education.

The 2013 Military Friendly Schools® list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus. This year, the 1,739 colleges, universities and trade schools on this year’s list exhibit leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience.

A Commitment to Military Friendly Programs

Over the past several years Ashworth has demonstrated its commitment to the military by providing programs that fit the unique demands of military life and by sponsoring programs.

“It’s our mission to ensure that each of our programs is of the highest quality, accredited, affordable and flexible,” said Rodney Butler, U.S. Army First Sergeant, Retired and Ashworth College Military Education Coordinator on behalf of the accredited online school. “Our degree programs are designed to help military tuition benefits go further by offering courses under $64 dollars per credit hour -- as much as 55% less than similar institutions.”

The United States Veterans Administration recently approved Ashworth’s 62 career diploma programs as eligible for military education benefits and is awaiting similar clearance on its undergraduate certificate programs. Additionally, sister school James Madison High School’s Common Core State Standards-compliant curriculum is rated as a Tier I school by the U.S. Department of Defense.

A Yellow Ribbon School and a Servicemember Opportunity Colleges Consortium (SOC) member school, Ashworth College accepts ACE credits and is approved for a range of benefits to include Post 9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, GoArmyEd, and MyCAA.

The online school is also a corporate sponsor of Army Wife Network, the Fort Benning Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, and has sponsored Military Spouse magazine’s Military Spouse of the Year Award.
