Distance Education Leader Ashworth College Launches General Studies Certificate Program

Sept. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- PEACHTREE CORNERS, Georgia – Ashworth College today announced the addition of its new General Studies Certificate Program to its roster of online certificates. A leader in online learning, Ashworth’s new curriculum is nationally accredited and designed to provide students a well-rounded college education.

The online Undergraduate Certificate in General Studies is a complement to Ashworth’s (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu) accredited general studies degree programs at the associate and bachelor’s level. Each offers students a solid academic foundation and the flexibility to transfer credits from previously attended colleges and universities. The completion of an Ashworth College general studies online certificate program can demonstrate to employers that the graduate has the intelligence, self-discipline and commitment to work through a college-level program.

“When interviewing for a new job, working adults wanting to break into new careers might find that completing a general studies program can give them advantages over a candidate without a post-secondary education,” said Dr. Leslie Gargiulo, Ashworth College’s Chief Education Officer. “It could also give and edge to someone who is looking to move up within their current company.”

“Earning a general studies certificate online can be a tremendous opportunity to lay a foundation for a college degree program down the road,” Dr. Gargiulo added.

Comprised of five courses of three credit hours each – the equivalent of one semester – the general studies certificate program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in general education by combining required courses in English and math with elective courses in science, behavioral/social science, and humanities/fine arts. All General Studies courses are fully transferable into Ashworth’s Associate of Science, Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees. Each course contains a printed or online study guide with course overview, lecture notes, practice exercises, computer-scored multiple choice tests and hand-graded assignments.
