By: The William Secord Gallery 52 East 76 Street New York, NY 10021 Debi Lampert-Rudman: Believe in the Possible Saturday, October 27 - Saturday, December 8, 2012 The William Secord Gallery is pleased to present the original ceramic sculptures of Debi Lampert-Rudman, an American artist whose whimsical, witty and joyous pieces bring a pop-art sensibility to the dog world. Over twenty-five original ceramic works, along with a selection of preliminary watercolor sketches, will be shown in this, her first solo exhibition and sale. “I love creating functional and decorative ceramic pieces that tell poignant dog stories filled with humor,” declares the artist. “Dogs depicted in my work are generally doing things no one expects them to do, but rather what they believe it is possible to do.” Some of America’s most popular breeds are included in Debi’s flights of fancy, including the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Cocker Spaniel, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, French Bulldog, Jack Russell Terrier, Labrador Retriever, Norwich Terrier and the Wire Fox Terrier. Live Your Life, for example, is a large charger with three dimensional Cocker Spaniels frolicking around the rim, while Jane Austen depicts a Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel sitting at her desk, replete with her own candlestick. Functional pieces such as platters, bowls and teapots are included, as are bas-relief tiles and sculptured pieces whose only function is to please. Each of Debi’s ceramic pieces is sculptured of high-fired stoneware; wheel-thrown, hand-built or a combination of both. Each unique piece is hand painted three times to obtain the desired depth of color. Debi also creates ceramic pieces on commission, and she has a long list of happy clients. Kelly Ladouceur, publisher of ACN Review recently noted, “The instant I saw “The Professor” (a sculptural ceramic piece depicting a Cocker Spaniel reading a book), I felt a connection with the piece. The detail is amazing... I am thrilled to have a piece of Debi’s heart in my home.” Debi is currently accepting new commissions. Her work is exclusively represented by William Secord Gallery. A Commission Price Guide is available upon request. For more information on her work, please contact the William Secord Gallery at 212-249-0075 or wsecord@dogpainting.com End
