Popular Productions present the legendary ghost thriller 'The Woman in Black'

Eel Marsh House stands isolated, surveying the endless marshes beyond the Nine Lives Causeway, somewhere on England's bleak East Coast. Here Alice Drablow lived - and died - alone. Young Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, is ordered by his firm's senior partner to travel up from London to attend her funeral and then sort her papers. His task is a lonely one, and at first Kipps is quite unaware of the tragic secrets which lie behind the house's shuttered windows. He only has a terrible sense of unease. But then, he glimpses a young woman with a wasted face, dressed all in black at the funeral and again in the graveyard at Eel Marsh House.

Who is she? Why is she there? He asks questions, but the locals refuse to talk about the woman in black, or even to acknowledge her existence, at all. So, Arthur Kipps has to wait until he sees her again, and she slowly reveals her identity to him – and her terrible purpose.                                          

Based on Susan Hill's best-selling novel, it is rightly respected internationally as one of the most effective plays ever to be written with over 7 million people having seen the show. Adapted brilliantly for the stage by Stephen Mallatratt, it has been produced in over 40 countries and has thrilled audiences the world over with its heart-stopping story.

2012 saw the release of the big screen version starring Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe, which with its spectacular box office became the biggest selling UK horror movie of the last twenty years.

The production features a cast of the very best West End actors in a haunting staging, directed by John Payton.
