Kathrine Switzer  and Dick Beardsley will speak at the dinner along with Team RWB Representative.  The dinner will serve as a fundraiser for Team Red, White, and Blue.  Tickets are on sale, please click here to purchase yours.  Tickets will be available through Wednesday, October 18, 2012.  There are limited seats for the dinner, please be sure to purchase your tickets asap.

Kathrine Switzer
Switzer perhaps best known as the first woman to officially (although controversially) enter the Boston Marathon in 1967 while she was still a student at Syracuse University, Switzer went on to run 38 marathons and won the 1974 New York City Marathon. She was named by Runner’s World Magazine as one of running’s “Four Visionaries of the 20th Century” for her work in women‘s equality in the sport and leading the drive to secure the women‘s marathon as an Olympic event.

The 4 Person Marathon Relay Race (26.2 Miles Total) will be an exciting and accessible way for groups and individuals to participate in the Empire State Marathon at a distance less than the Marathon and Half Marathon.  Each Team will have a team member stationed at each leg to hand off to. Busing will be provided to each location so all members can park at the Finish line and will also be picked up from their finishing station to be bused back to the Finish Line.

The relay starts at 7:30 am with the Marathon Runners.

The Marathon Relay transfer locations are roughly every 6 to 7 miles at sites  based on best positions for exchange, spectators and the pick – up of participants. Buses will transport runners to the relay exchange areas and be leaving at 7:00 a.m., 7:15 a.m., and 7:30 a.m.  Slap bracelet passing is optional per relay team and may be picked up at packet pick at the Expo on the 19th or 20th.  Buses will be labeled Runner #2, Runner #3 and Runner #4 for drop off points.  On the return to the stadium runners can get on any bus headed back to the Finish Line. Buses will pick up runners that have finished their leg of the relay from each Relay Leg Location in 30 to 45 minute intervals and traveling back to Alliance Bank Stadium.
