Newton Abbot Racecourse Celebrate End Of Season With Final Fixture For 2012

With the end of the 2012 season fast approaching, Newton Abbot Racecourse invite horseracing enthusiasts to enjoy the last fixture of the year, with an afternoon of racing on Friday 12th October

Oct. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Alongside seven races during the course of the fixture, South West Racing Club will be parading their ‘Horse of the Year’ in the Parade Ring. Hunt Ball has won seven out of nine races entered over the last twelve months, and looks to be a favourite in the upcoming season.

South West Racing Club is dedicated to bringing together like-minded people who are passionate about horseracing. The club regularly sponsors races at four local courses and organises trips for its members to other courses throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.

As the end of another season approaches, Patrick Masterson, Managing Director of Newton Abbot Racecourse, reflected on the 2012 season: “Unfortunately we have had to endure some terrible weather this season, which at first meant we were able to host Taunton’s abandoned fixture early in the year and keep the fixture in the region for South West horseracing fans. However, as the weather turned, we unfortunately had to abandon four fixtures due to waterlogging on the course.”

“Despite the weather we have played host to some terrific meetings this season. Alongside the ever-popular Ladies’ Day in early summer we also enjoyed our richest-ever fixture on August 4th with a £100k prize fund which was very well received by jockeys, owners, trainers and horseracing fans alike.”

“With the economic hardship continuing we have gone to great lengths to ensure as many people as possible have been able to enjoy a day with us this season. We’ve continued with our 2-4-1 offers and launched a new free entry for students policy to introduce the younger generation to the sport.”

“On behalf of our team at the course, we would like to thank everyone who has supported us this year. It’s been another exciting season at Newton Abbot Racecourse and we hope to improve the facilities here at Newton Abbot over the winter ready to offer an even better experience next season.”

The final fixture for the season is on Friday 12th October, with racing starting at 1.50pm.
