Ashworth College's New General Studies Program Gives Military Opportunity to Transfer More Credits

Ashworth College now offers servicemembers and veterans the flexibility to transfer in up to nine credit hours from previously attended colleges and universities into its new accredited online General Studies Undergraduate Certificate program.

Oct. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- PEACHTREE CORNERS, Georgia – Ashworth College recently added an accredited online General Studies Undergraduate Certificate to its suite of online certificates. Ashworth’s (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu) new program was developed with the military education needs of servicemembers and veterans in mind.

By offering students the flexibility to transfer in up to nine credit hours from previously attended colleges and universities, Ashworth’s online certificate in general studies program provides a solid academic foundation that can serve as a starting point for servicemembers working towards promotion points, as well helping veterans demonstrate to employers that they have achieved a level of self-discipline and commitment to work through a college-level program.

“One of the reasons why we developed the General Studies Certificate was to better accommodate servicememembers and veterans who had credits from other institutions and wanting to apply them toward a college-level program,” said Dr. Leslie Gargiulo, Chief Education Officer. “A general studies certificate can go a long way towards breaking into a new career or advancing in a current career. It can also be an opportunity to lay the foundation for a college degree program down the road.”

Comprised of five courses of three credit hours each – the equivalent of one semester – the general studies certificate program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in general education by combining required courses in English and math with elective courses. All general studies courses are fully transferable into Ashworth’s Associate of Science, Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees

Ashworth also offers accredited general studies programs at the associate and bachelor’s degree level.
