Thriller on the Griller Events Cook Up Huge Donation to Help Community
Customers and Vendors Raise more than $163,000 to Assist Local Wounded Service Members and their Families

JACKSONVILLE, NC, October 11, 2012 – Food Lion customers raised more than $163,000 through its recent Hope For The Warriors® Thriller on the Griller benefit events to assist combat wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen.

“Thank you to Food Lion, their employees, customers, and vendors for their amazing support to Hope For The Warriors®,” Robin Kelleher, the President of the nonprofit organization.  “Their generosity will ensure that we can continue to assist combat wounded service members and military families, many who are in the North Carolina/South Carolina region.”

Food Lion offered nine different events throughout the North Carolina beach region in August and September with a goal of raising 100,000 to benefit the nonprofit organization.  Customers had several options to support the Hope For The Warriors® at the “Thriller on the Griller” events. Shoppers purchased lunch donated by vendors for a small donation and also purchased silent auction items with the proceeds benefiting Hope For The Warriors®.
