Follow on Google News | ![]() New Book The Michigan You Love Reveals Landscape Photography SecretsPhotographer Steven Huyser-Honig announces the release of The Michigan You Love. The book presents 50 photographs inspired by Michigan's beauty. It explains how each was made and gives creative tips to improve photography and choose camera equipment.
Huyser-Honig wrote it in response to all the customers who've been asking for years for a book of his photographs. The Michigan You Love is a 128-page book that contains 40 of his customers' favorite images and 10 of his personal favorites. Each image gets a two-page spread. The right page presents the image. The left page is an essay that tells the story behind each image's creation. Huyser-Honig reveals where, how, and when he took the photograph and gives technical details. "People have always appreciated the short descriptions I give with my photographs at art fairs and on my website. The essays in the book let me explain more of my creative process in developing these images," he says. "The 10 personal favorites are images that I love but are less popular with customers. I'm comfortable with that because I view my work as a form of visual communication. Image popularity is a dialogue between you and me that confirms and guides my creative direction. By including images that mean a lot to me, this book helps you get to know me better as an artist," he adds. Before going into photography full time, Steven Huyser-Honig taught middle school science and math and presented often at teachers conventions. He still cares about helping people learn. That's why he made sure The Michigan You Love will help both novice and more seasoned photographers. The book begins with an introductory chapter on basic photography concepts. It ends with a chapter entitled “What’s in the Bag?” "In this chapter I discuss my sometimes surprising equipment choices. I explain the reasons behind my choices, review many fundamental concepts in photography, and make suggestions for improving your own images," he says.
