Oct. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- October 2012 – Blackstone’s of Beacon Hill, an award-winning gift store long-known for its uniquely crafted gifts and year-round seasonal décor, is fast becoming known across the US for its growing line of collectibles. On Saturday, November 3rd, Blackstone’s will continue its 30th Anniversary event series by hosting a day-long collector’s event.  They will be showcasing five of their most popular collectible lines.  These include Wee Forest Folk, Byers Choice Carolers, JingleNog European old world glass ornaments and two lines from Germany…wooden angels from Wendt & Kuhn and exquisite hand-painted pewter figures from William Schweizer.

Blackstone’s will kick off its day-long event at 10:00 am with a special appearance and demonstration from Wee Forest Folk artist and sculptor, Will Petersen.  Petersen and the Wee Forest Folk family from Carlisle, MA were recently featured on TV’s Chronicle program. Here it was learned that some of the retired pieces can fetch close to $5,000! (Chronicle web-site)  In addition, Diane Lyman of Byers Choice will be on hand to answer questions and speak about the rich history of one of America’s favorite collectibles.

“For the sheer joy of collecting or as an investment, collectibles have remained a growing, resilient and rewarding hobby and passion for those who value the skill, beauty and uniqueness of hand crafted treasures and the work of the dedicated artisans who bring them to life,” says Mark Duffield, co-owner, Blackstone’s of Beacon Hill.   “To add to the fun of our Collector’s Day, we will be holding drawings, offering gifts with purchases for some of the lines and other fun surprises,” says Jennifer Hill, co-owner, Blackstone’s of Beacon Hill.

About Wee Forest Folk
Wee Forest Folk® is a small family business in Massachusetts that delights in producing a line of miniatures, most of which are mice! This year Wee Forest Folk celebrates its 40th year creating these enchanting little works of art!

About Byers Choice Carolers
It was the late 1960's and Joyce Byers, an amateur artist with a degree in fashion design, was disappointed in what she was seeing in the stores: aluminum tinsel trees with garish blue lights. She was looking for holiday decorations with warmth that showed respect for timeless traditions and her own memories of Christmas.  The first Carolers graced the Byers' dining room table that Christmas, and they received compliments from all of the relatives. On a tight budget, Joyce knew what to make for presents the following year. Flash forward 40+ years and the family now oversees a team of 80 artisans in Pennsylvania who handcraft those same creations that started out on the dining room table many years ago. And although the Carolers are sold in thousands of fine gift stores around the world, the company still holds to its starting roots: producing a quality product, at an affordable price, and dedicated to serving its customers and the community in the spirit of Christmas.

About JingleNog
JingleNog's ornaments are all hand made with mouth blown European glass. Produced in Italy and Poland, the line is designed by JingleNog's owner and creator Melissa Byrne. Melissa has over 20 years of experience in the Christmas and Gift Industry. As a buyer, she created the product for the Lord and Taylor Christmas Shop for many years, working closely with the craftsmen in Europe to develop Christmas Tree ornaments and holiday gifts that were exclusive and unique for the store. She then moved to Christopher Radko, working with the founder, as Director of Product Development. Now she has created her own line to share, collect and celebrate the Christmas Holidays - JingleNog - a division of JingleBell Inc. The line starts with Melissa's drawings and stories, resulting in beautiful, unique, hand made glass pieces that have been classically crafted using the traditional mouth blown methods of European glassmaking. The JingleNog collection provides a great new showcase for the artistry and skills of the European glass makers.
