Oct. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- New Rochelle, NY—A prestigious group of physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare providers will gather in Washington, DC on March 22-24, 2013 to learn practical, clinical information and cutting-edge therapeutic protocols, advances in diagnosis and management, and innovative translational research advances that impact women’s health care. Women’s Health 2013: The 21st Annual Congress is actively seeking poster abstract submissions for the “Women's Health & Sex Differences Research” Scientific Poster Session, which is co-sponsored by the NIH Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH). Topics in basic, clinical, translational, behavioral, epidemiologic, disparities, and health services research are welcome, as are abstracts on innovations in education and career development for health researchers. Recognition at the Congress will be given to the posters judged to be the most outstanding in each category of women's health and sex differences research. The Congress is presented by Academy of Women’s Health, Journal of Women’s Health, and the VCU Institute for Women’s Health, in partnership with DHHS Office on Women’s Health, NIH Office of Research on Women's Health, and Society for Women’s Health Research.

Congress Chair Susan Kornstein, MD, Executive Director of the VCU Institute for Women's Health, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Women’s Health, and President of the Academy of Women’s Health, and Congress Co-Chair Lisa Ellis, MD, Executive Director of Stony Point – VCU and Medical Director, VCU Institute for Women's Health, will bring together outstanding faculty of the highest caliber. An array of informative sessions will focus on the most clinically relevant topics in women’s health including cardiology, oncology, endocrinology, menopause, infectious disease, reproductive health, bone health, psychiatry, and common clinical conditions.  

The many distinguished speakers include JoAnn Manson, MD, DrPH, Professor of Medicine and the Michael and Lee Bell Professor of Women's Health, Harvard Medical School and Chief, Division of Preventive Medicine, Brigham and Women's Hospital; Nanette Santoro, MD, Professor and E Stewart Taylor Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Colorado at Denver School of Medicine; Michael McClung, MD, Director, Oregon Osteoporosis Center and Associate Professor of Medicine, Oregon Health & Science University; Linda Giudice, MD, PhD, Distinguished Professor and Chair of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, University of California, San Francisco; Lee Shulman, MD, Anna Ross Lapham Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director, Cancer Genetics Program, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine; Michael Twery, PhD, Director, National Center on Sleep Disorders Research, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Division of Lung Diseases, NIH; and Antronette Yancey, MD, Professor of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles.

The Congress will offer up to 22.5 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)TM, 22.5 Nursing Contact Hours, 21.0 AANP contact hours (including up to 10.75 hours of pharmacology credits), and 22.25 AAFP prescribed credits.
