Follow on Google News | New Cleaning Standard for K-12 SchoolsGCI has undertaken an immense project to provide a standard for Green cleaning to schools and other organizations. In so doing, the mystery and missteps for any cleaning program can be eliminated as quality is enhanced.
Updated and released for public use earlier this year, this International 180 Best Practice Standards worksheet allows a location to select from an organic listing of Green Cleaning attributes. An operation is on the chart at 90 points and can earn up to 900 points from the core standards. Within the next two months, participants will be able to access “industry specific” points that will address areas specific to their type of operation. These will be; K-12, Higher Ed, Healthcare, Daycare, Fitness to name a few. Just after the FTC has stated that operations need to be able to verify claims through third party organizations, the Green Clean Institute is releasing these numbers to show how clients rank as they use the educational programs available. David Thompson, President of GCI states, “It’s not enough to say you are Green by only using a product. There is so much more to Green cleaning and the 180 Best Practice Standards are one way to identify and prove up what your operation is putting into practice”. As the Green Clean Institute is based in Missouri “The Show Me State”, Thompson and his group will be contacting participants in 2013 for an audit of the points they have identified on the 180 Best Practice Standards program. Stay tuned to see who achieves their highest certification, the Audited Green Janitorial Certification, in 2013.
