Follow on Google News | SHARP Dance Company to present Four Hot Men and An Old LadySHARP Dance Company’s home season “FOUR HOT MEN AND AN OLD LADY” is exploding off the stage with four new premieres from four amazing guest choreographers from New York and Philadelphia. Nov. 9-10 at the Painted Bride.
Steven Vaughn, from Parsons Dance Company (NY), premieres “PHANTOM OTHER(S)” which is an abstract piece personifying our driving force and motivation to push forward as a future self. The two dancers represent one character who strives to become what he will be. Kevin Ferguson, choreographer and former Parsons and Doug Elkins dancer, shows his revised and expanded “AWAKENINGS”, which premiered with SHARP in the Fall 2010. Philly’s own Charles Tyson, Underground Dance Works, premieres “NO WHITE HORSES, NO HAPPY ENDINGS” a dark physical work about the struggle in many relationships. Another choreographer from Philadelphia, Koresh Company member Joe Cotler uses his own unique movement style in “CHOSEN.” In addition, the program contains a piece from SHARP’s Artistic Director Diane Sharp-Nachsin called “WHITE RABBIT” which will be part of “AQUARIAN EXPOSTION: A TRIP BACK TO THE ORGINAL WOODSTOCK” in this Springs Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA) 2013. In “WHITE RABBIT,” SHARP dives into the 60’s Woodstock age of enlightenment with the help of projection artist Lauren Mandilian Huot. www.pifa.org SHARP strives to bring together a company of strong dancers to perform work with a new vision. Their mission is to translate raw human emotion utilizing contemporary movement to connect the audience through individual interpretation. SHARP’s work was recently selected for the: Bedfringe (England) 2012, Chicago Fringe Festival 2012, Phoenix Fringe Festival, Seacoast Fringe Festival, Cool NY Festival, Fringe Wilmington Festival, Philadelphia Festival of the Arts (PIFA) 2011 & Philadelphia Fringe and the Artistic Director Diane Sharp-Nachsin was selected as a New Edge Mix Artist Award recipient in Philadelphia, PA and was commissioned to set work on the Mid-Atlantic Ballet in 2008- 2011.
