Oct. 31, 2012 - PRLog -- Three former U.S. ambassadors were some of the notable guests who attended The Real Estate Council's Bank of Texas Series, presented by The Dallas Morning News, on Oct. 26 at the Westin Galleria Hotel to hear former CEO of the Panama Canal Authority Alberto Alemán Zubieta speak about the $5.25 billion Panama Canal expansion. Alemán said, "It's a worldwide project involving firms from Chicago for design, Italy (Cimolai) for steel, South Korea for valves, Belgium for dredging work and more. It's not only about the ports, but it's about the major inland ports. They are all inter-connected through railroads and highways, including Texas."

The Panama Canal is the leading inter-oceanic waterway serving world maritime commerce. With a major port in Houston and significant inland port in North Texas, the Panama Canal expansion has the potential to have a significant impact on regional economic growth in the years ahead.
