What makes a great job so great

Jobs that are consistently ranked as the “happiest” jobs, are some of the most challenging jobs. See what makes a great job so great.

Nov. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Consider just some of the jobs that were ranked as the best in Australia: clergymen, teachers, firefighters, and physical therapists, for example. Are any of these of interest to you? Possibly not, however what makes a great job so great is not always your level of interest in the position. There are lots of people in high-paying executive positions who hate their jobs, it could have been interesting in university or college, but the "workplace" is an entirely thing.

Jobs that are consistently ranked then as the “happiest” jobs, are some of the most challenging jobs. It’s the work that is stimulating and makes the employees feel they are making a difference. In Forbes list of the 10 happiest jobs, many factors were considered above and beyond salary. Jobs which ranked low were inevitably the ones that involved considerable repetition and little to no stimulation: meter readers, welders and taxi drivers, for example. Directors of Sales and marketing, Product Managers and law clerks also ranked low on the list of "happiest" jobs. What was the reason for this?, well people often feel trapped in such positions.

Possibility is something employers should not overlook. To cultivate satisfied employees they must not be left to feel "is the end of the road" as if they do the only result will be "well why make the effort?". It's natural for employees to ask themselves, what’s the point of this?

We all need to feel our jobs are worthwhile and that we are making a difference somewhere. For the full articles please visit our guest writers post on the http://blog.employersjobs.com
