Why Product Reviews are Important.

Does your opinion really count? Why You Should Leave a Product Review.

Nov. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- Does one opinion really count? The answer is yes!  A company can advertise from today to tomorrow, but that is never going to be as powerful as a customer’s word-of-mouth. Reviews essentially sell the product for the company, because consumers are much more likely to buy products if others vouch for them, therefore, knowing how to write a good product review that is helpful and benefits others, is key.

Before writing a product review, make sure you have received the order first so that you know what you are reviewing. Sometimes it can happen that you might get frustrated when your order does not arrive on time or you receive the wrong product. Therefore, first things first, contact customer service and try to resolve any issues you might have with the order before posting anything. Do not vent out your frustration on the review sites before trying to resolve your shipment issues first. Do realize every company, even the biggest and most reputable, will have orders that will have complications and mix-ups. You can always leave your email, or order number, or name and last name on your review so that the company can reach out to you and resolve any problems that might not have been resolved.

Try to write about the product in an unbiased point-of-view. For example if you do not like the color of the product, say “this color does not suit me” instead of “what an awful color”.  A good product review consists of details. Point out the features that you think are good and explain why you like them. Likewise, if you think a feature is poor, explain why you think so. Remember, not every item you buy will suit you perfectly, and just because it is not your cup of tea, does not mean it is not somebody else’s.

Leave constructive product reviews. For example, do not leave a review that says “It’s good” or “It’s bad”. People tend to find these types of reviews not too helpful. Explain why a product is good or why it is bad and what you like or do not like about it. This gives the person looking to purchase the product an insight of what his/ her experience might be like and what he/she should expect.

An ideal review should be consistent with the rating it is given. Ratings should be based on the overall quality. If in the review you state the product “is perfect” but leave a rating of three, you will have shoppers confused. Same if you give a product a rating of four but leave no reason why, you will leave people wondering, why it wasn’t rated a five?

Feel free to leave suggestions as to where a company can improve their products or services. Companies value your feedback and want to make sure your experience is as pleasant as possible. Happy shopping and always remember to let us know about your experiences!
