Hair Touch Honors the Memory of Conor Lynch by Raising Funds for Traffic Safety

Nov. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Hair Touch sponsors the Conor Lynch Foundation by raffling off a beautiful gift basket valued at $600 just in time for Christmas. (It contains a wealth of brand name hair care products including a fancy hair dryer in the $200 range!) All proceeds will be donated to the foundation. (Raffle ticket $1.00 each. Drawing will be held on December 22nd  2012)
The date of the raffle drawing is just before Christmas. The chance of winning luxury hair care products is better than in most price drawings. Every raffle ticket sold will help improve road safety by educating young traffic participants about the dangers of using electronic devices while on the road.  

Conor Lynch was a healthy, accomplished and loved 16-year old who’s been killed by a distracted driver. The Conor Lynch Foundation (http://inhonorofconor.org) has been established to support new and existing programs that raise awareness and promote the safety of runners, pedestrians, cyclists and young drivers. The foundation supports education for young traffic participants who often talk and text while driving or walking unaware that being distracted is one of the leading causes of traffic accidents. It emphasizes the importance of safe driving with a cell phone and other electronic devices off while in traffic. Public contributions and events such as safety fairs and the annual 5 K Run / Walk “In Honor of Conor” directly benefit Conor Lynch Foundation and help to ensure that no family suffers a loss of a loved one caused by a distracted driver, again.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):
- In 2010, 3092 people were killed in crashes involving a distracted driver and an estimated additional 416,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving a distracted driver.
- Text messaging creates a crash risk 23 times worse than driving while not distracted.
- Drivers who use hand-held devices are 4 times more likely to get into crashes serious enough to injure themselves.

Hair Touch – Sherman Oaks Hair Salon – helps the Conor Lynch Foundation raise funds for traffic safety education for youth who often drive, walk, run or cycle distracted by electronic devices. The use of cell phones for talking and texting dramatically increases the rate of traffic accidents. 16 year old Conor Lynch was killed by a distracted driver.
