Somerset girl gets gift of a lifetime thanks to company fundraising efforts

Nov. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Dreams Come True aims to bring joy to children with serious illnesses and seeks sponsorship from regional businesses. South-West based Cooper Associates, a corporate partner of Dreams Come True, selected Grace Edemenson as the child to sponsor. Twelve year old Grace suffers from Global Developmental Delay, a condition that means she is confined to a wheelchair and encounters problems with communicating.

Throughout the year, employees of Cooper Associates attempted a number of challenging activities across the UK to raise money for Grace, including Cooper Associates’ Directors, Glyn and Lee Cooper, who completed the gruelling bike ride from Lands’ End to John O’Groats, Group Office Manager, Lisa Rawle, who attempted the Three Peaks challenge and Senior Administrator, Katherine Stone, who alongside Lee Cooper ran the London Marathon. In total, their efforts raised £3,500, enough to fund Grace’s trip to Disneyland.

Managing Director of Cooper Associates Samantha Cooper, who also climbed Kilimanjaro for the charity, together with her fundraising colleagues, presented the cheque to Grace and her mother, Lynda, this month at the company’s Somerset head office. As an extra treat, Somerset and England cricket star, Jos Buttler, attended the presentation and wished Grace well for her upcoming trip.

Grace’s mother, Lynda Edemenson, is overjoyed Grace can now make her dream come true. She comments, “It’s fantastic that local businesses support local children and help them achieve their dreams. I can’t thank Cooper Associates enough for their efforts and I’m delighted Grace can go to a place she’s fantasised about for a very long time.”

Building links within the community is an integral company value of ours, and to be able to send Grace to Florida is a just reward for our fundraising efforts.”
