Last year his former group, Metrognome Jazz Quintet, blew away the crowd with their jazzy renditions of classic Christmas favorites. This year it is expected to be the same. The House Blend Jazz Ensemble will also be performing again at the Denver Christkindl Market in Denver's Skyline Park in the giant Holiday Tent on Thursday December 6, also at 6pm. Fred Beisser, a board member of the German American Chamber of Commerce which presents the Denver Christkindl Market and also an Elbert County library trustee, discovered Jake Alvarez and his former jazz combo playing in Elizabeth, Colorado. He liked their music so much that he hired the combo for a reception in the new Elizabeth branch library. Beisser later recommended Jake and the his group to play at the Christkindl Market in Denver. The House Blend Jazz Ensemble generally perform songs by jazz greats like Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Horace Silver, Milt Jackson and John Coltrane. For the Christkindl Market they will also perform some Christmas music with a jazz sound. Be sure to enjoy them.
