By: Rafael Manon “I’m very pleased that my nursing staff hold me in such regard,” said Dr Rafael Manon. “I make building strong working relationships with MD Anderson’s nurses a top priority in my practice, so I’m glad that I’ve done my job well, and they feel like I’m a top physician to work with.” At his practice in the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando, Rafael Manon uses recent technological advances to expertly treat patients with head, neck, lung, and gynecologic cancer. Dr Rafael Manon is well known for his excellent bedside manner, positive attitude, and high rates of treatment success. No stranger to award winning, Rafael Manon has received the Outstanding Achievement in Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Award from the Office of Naval Research, and graduated summa cum laude from the College of Arts and Sciences at Florida State University. Rafael Manon was also the chief resident of his residency class at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. “This award is extremely exciting to have won,” commented Rafael Manon. “But it won’t make me complacent. If anything, I think this is an indication that I’m on the right track, and will encourage me to work harder to create a positive working atmosphere for nurses and reflect the kind of quality of care that this award demonstrates that I’m capable of.” Rafael Manon has been working with his team of nurses at the MD Anderson Cancer Center for nearly seven years. In addition to seeing patients, Rafael Manon is the director of research for the department of oncology, and oversees quality of treatment of head and neck cancers. Dr Rafael Manon is the principal investigator on a number of national studies investigating the use of state of the art technology to reduce the prevalence of side effects in radiation-based cancer treatments.
