NJBankers Appoints Unity Bank President & CEO James A. Hughes to BoardUnity Bank President & CEO James A. Hughes has been appointed a member of the New Jersey Bankers Association (NJBankers) Board of Directors.
“I am extremely honored to be appointed to the NJBankers Board,” said Hughes, a resident of Lebanon. “It is a very challenging time for the banking industry in general and community banks in particular so I look forward to working with my association colleagues to build a stronger industry for both individuals and small businesses. It is important that the Board has representation from community bankers and it is a great opportunity to represent Unity Bank on a statewide level.” Hughes joined Unity Bank in December 2000 as Executive Vice President & CFO. In 2003, he was appointed President & CEO. Hughes previously served as Senior Vice President of Finance at Summit Bancorp of Princeton, where he had held several positions since 1989, and was an audit manager with KPMG, L.L.P. Hughes received a B.S. in Accounting/Finance from Mount St. Mary’s College and an M.B.A. in Finance from Seton Hall University. A Certified Public Accountant, he is an active member of the Financial Executives Institute and has served as an active member and officer of the Community Bankers Association. Hughes previously served as an adjunct accounting professor with Rutgers University.
