Grassroots Soccer Encouraged to Celebrate Its Volunteers For International Day Of Recognition

International Volunteer Day is fast approaching and Futbol Focus is encouraging local soccer clubs and non-profits to celebrate their volunteers and all they do for the sport.

Dec. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Soccer fans from across the globe are encouraged to come together and celebrate International Volunteer Day (IVD), a time dedicated to demonstrating publically that by working together, we have the fortitude to meet our challenges and accomplish our goals.

Futbol Focus, the new soccer specific social network, is calling on clubs, non-profit organizations and their members to take the time to formally acknowledge its volunteers and the tireless work they on a daily basis to make sure the engine room of grassroots soccer continues to power ahead.

General Partner, Ryan Ginard, stated that there were numerous ways clubs could show their appreciation to volunteers including formal recognition ceremonies or just a simple thank you.

“We know the majority of club administrators put in countless hours in a volunteer capacity and that often it’s a thankless task. It’s important that clubs regularly celebrate all they have achieved and those that helped achieve it” Ginard said.

International Volunteer Day, December 5, is about taking action and encouraging individuals and their respective communities to be at the center of social change – discovering and actively demonstrating their collective power to foster positive transformation.

Mr Ginard also maintained that grassroots clubs (regardless of their geography or demographics) are always looking for volunteers to help them with the countless administrative tasks and game day operations.

“Getting involved with your local club is easy, but ultimately up to the individual to take that first step. Pick up the phone or send a simple email. Let these clubs know you are here and happy to help.

“Volunteers are priceless to these organizations and without them the sport would struggle to develop the international talent we spend hours passionately following and cheering for.

“It also provides people the opportunity to give back to the sport that no doubt has given so much to them and we here at Futbol Focus hope that IVD can provide the catalyst for a new wave of enthusiasm in our grassroots clubs” Ginard said.

Clubs can post their volunteer opportunities through the Futbol Focus social network via its classifieds section (with localized plugins) and interact with other clubs to share best practices through the raft of other community features contained within the site.
