CHARLOTTE, NC (December 11, 2012) -- Home to the NFL Carolina Panthers, award-winning high school and middle school football teams, and host of the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship game, Charlotte has a lot of love for the game of football. However, the Charlotte Touchdown club is a unique organization contributing to Charlotte’s football fan base.

The Bronko Nagurski Charlotte Touchdown Club (http://www.touchdownclub.com/) is a non-profit organization created to promote high school, collegiate, and professional football in the Charlotte, North Carolina region. Burke has been a Pro Bowl Sponsor of the Charlotte Touchdown Club since 2008, assisting the organization with its website design back in 2010. Today, Burke still actively manages the site, posting latest news and photos of the events and accolades of the club’s activities.

“It’s been a privilege to work with Jack Burke and his Team at Burke Communications.   They have been an outstanding partner of the Charlotte Touchdown Club and have contributed greatly to the overall non-profit mission of our organization,” said Charlotte Touchdown Club Executive Director John Rocco.

As part of the partnership, Burke sponsors a table at the monthly Speaker Lunch Series luncheons held at the Westin Hotel in uptown Charlotte. This year’s series included industry icons of Roy Firestone, Bill Romanowski, Hines Ward, David Pollack and Joe Montana. Burke produces the introduction video that is shown at the beginning of each luncheon. It features clips of the year’s events, speakers, awards, as well as memorable and phenomenon moments of football. Burke recently updated this year's video with recap footage from the year's events. “It has been our pleasure to support the Charlotte Touchdown Club over the past four years. What other organization has the ability to foster unique relationships among our community’s professional, collegiate, and young athletes of distinction, while giving back to the local community with scholarships and funding for local programs at the same time?” said Burke Communications President, Jack Burke. “Athletics are a huge part of the Charlotte community, and they provide young athletes with skills of leadership, team work, and discipline, which are life-long skills for success in any business. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the Charlotte Touchdown Club and supporting their community activities.”

In addition to the monthly speaker luncheons, the Charlotte Touchdown Club hosts the Bronko Nagurski Awards Banquet at the end of the year, honoring five finalists as national defensive player of the year. This year, University of Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o was announced as the 2012 award recipient (http://www.touchdownclub.com/index.php?option=com_content...). Proceeds from the evening and all other events throughout the year contributed to raising over $1,500,000 to benefit the Charlotte Touchdown Club’s Scholarship Fund. These funds are used to support area high schools’ athletic programs through scholarships as well as upgrading equipment to keep athletes safe during competition.

“The continued involvement and dedication from our sponsors is the truest testament to the shared vision that allows the Charlotte Touchdown Club to continue its mission of helping young athletes in our community,” said Charlotte Touchdown Club President, Alan Tyson. “With the help of our sponsors, we were able to initiate a campaign to help raise more than $300,000 to save middle school athletics in the Charlotte area. What an incredible achievement and an impact that will be felt throughout the regions’ athletic community now and for years to come”
