New Carrier comes to Gatwick for Greece Specialists Sunvil Holidays and GIC The Villa Collection

Dec. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Says Chris Wright, Operations Director for Sunvil and MD of GIC The Villa Collection:  “The new Germania flight is big news for Sunvil and GIC The Villa Collection.  Germania (pronounced with a hard initial “G”, as in “girl”) will bring that well-known and much-admired German efficiency to Gatwick from its base in Berlin - 2013 will see its debut in the UK market.  

“Germania will base one of its fleet of aircraft at Gatwick for the entire summer season in order to fly our programme.  Sunvil and GIC have contracted full catering (with hot meal service) plus a 20 kg baggage allowance and pre-allocated seating.  Basically, we’ve selected all the old-fashioned frills much-missed by customers and served them up on a modern 737-700 aircraft that’s run by a company well-versed in efficient management of charter programmes.  We are delighted to be able to offer this excellent level of service to Sunvil and GIC passengers and we are sure that it will be well received by our clients.”

With flights to the well-known islands of Corfu, Kefalonia, Skiathos and Crete and lesser known island destinations such as Samos and Lemnos, plus mainland airports such as Preveza, Volos and Kalamata, both operators are looking forward to bringing the new product to the UK market.

Chris Wright adds:  “Faced with competition from the low-cost carriers, it is very important that, as real specialists to Greece, we differentiate our offering.  The new full-service Germania flights will allow us to do just this, on a modern aircraft.  We are confident that travel agents and their customers will be very satisfied with this new flight option.  It’s a welcome return to those much-valued services previously delivered by airlines as a matter of course.”

Customers using the new service will be able to pre-book extras such as select-a-seat, additional legroom or excess baggage.  More details on these services will be available shortly.

In operation for over 30 years, Germania has an excellent reputation for its on-time performance.  Based out of Berlin’s Tegel International airport, the airline operates a fleet of 15 aircraft - nine Boeing 737-700s and six Airbus A319-100 aircraft.  With flights out of Germany operating under the Germania name, plus aircraft leased to carriers such as Air Berlin and charter services operated on behalf of tour operators, the airline has a good mix of business.
