Broadmoor Medical Lodge Treats Local Rockwall Firemen to BBQ and Tour of the Community

Dec. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- Broadmoor Medical Lodge, a post-hospital recovery, skilled nursing and long-term care community to open in early 2013, recently invited a group of firemen from the Rockwall Fire Department, mainly a volunteer department, to a meet and greet event, which included barbeque, a tour of the almost completed facility, and gift bags of appreciation.

“We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to the Rockwall Fire Department and to allow them to become familiar with Broadmoor Medical Lodge,” said Eddie Black, executive director of Broadmoor. “Our new healthcare community includes state-of-the-art electrical systems, and we want to make sure our local firemen are familiar with how they work. We are grateful for their service and look forward to an ongoing partnership with our city’s first responders.”

After enjoying a hearty meal of barbeque, the firemen toured the 52,000 square foot, 140 bed community discussing new electrical systems and the safest escape routes in the event of a fire.

“Broadmoor Medical Lodge is very well designed and will provide a great place for residents and staff,” said Mark A. Poindexter, fire chief of Rockwall Fire Department.  “The Fire Department has been very involved in the inspections of the life safety systems installed within the building, and we know they will provide the residents with the greatest level of life safety protection. I was very surprised with some of the services that Broadmoor is planning on providing the residents, especially the relaxing view of Rainbow Lake. We would like to thank Broadmoor for the opportunity to meet with them and other representatives of the community.”

ABOUT BROADMOOR MEDICAL LODGE

Broadmoor Medical Lodge, currently under construction and scheduled to open early  2013, is locally owned and operated by SCC Healthcare Group, headquartered near Rockwall County.   Broadmoor Medical Lodge is the first new skilled nursing community to be built in Rockwall since the 1950s.  The upscale center with hotel-style amenities will cater to post-hospital recovery and rehabilitation as well as traditional long-term care.  Broadmoor Medical Lodge will be a designated Diabetes Education Center – the only one in Rockwall.

The 52,000 square foot center will have the capacity to fill 140 beds. The center will feature a separate and designated section for post-hospital recovery, upscale suites, large flat screen TVs and a private courtyard. Guests will receive various levels of physical, occupational, speech, ultrasound, electronic stimulation, wound and IV therapy provided by a seasoned team of rehabilitation professionals.    

Admission to Broadmoor Medical Lodge will be initiated by a physician, hospital social worker or discharge planner.  The primary service area will include Rockwall, Heath, Rowlett and surrounding communities.
