Denver YMCA Sponsors “Second Goal Parent” Workshop

Workshop helps parents create good sportsmanship, character on game day and beyond

Dec. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Building good character is a key benefit of youth sport participation. Getting there doesn't just depend on the athlete and coach, but on being a positive parent role model.  Achieving the balance between the three is what Second-Goal Parent is all about.

The Denver YMCA, in partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is sponsoring a free interactive workshop for parents, "Second-Goal Parent® Developing Winners in Life through Sports” stressing the importance of developing a constructive and effective relationship between parent and coach.  From how to talk to your child on game day to being a positive supporter in the stands, the goal of the class is to turn game day into a lifelong positive experience for your child.

The YMCA, with its distinguished history of teaching sportsmanship, is proud to partner with the PCA, a national non-profit dedicated to creating a positive sports experience for youth and high school athletes.

Each participant will receive a copy of the founder of PCA, Jim Thompson's book, 'Positive Sports Parenting.
