Ghost Hunting At Dewsbury Town Hall, With Simply Ghost Nights & Chris Conway, 2nd March 2013

Dec. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- This fine Victorian Town Hall stands in front of the old marketplace in the centre of bustling Dewsbury town centre. Dewsbury Town Hall is most famous for holding The Yorkshire Ripper in custody in the cells before charging him here in the courtroom. You can join us in these very cells.

This imposing grade 2 listed building is full of original stained glass windows, wood panelling, beautiful columns and ornate ceilings. The Town Hall contains an intimate 700 seat concert hall, spectacular function and meeting rooms, plus it also contains the Old Court Room.
The foundation stone was laid on the 12th October 1886 by the Mayor Thomas Bateman Fox JP. According to the Dewsbury Reporter "a day as it proved so rich with rain, the foundation stone was laid amid great rejoicing. There was a general holiday, decorations, a procession and bands of music illuminations"

The new Town Hall was built to cater for the towns increasing needs for the many civic offices such as town clerks, schools, highways, lighting, sewerage, rating, town planning, police and courts, merchant exchange, Council Chambers, Concert Hall and mayoral proceedings.

Staff tell us certain areas have a negative feel as though you dont want to be there, Who is the apparition of a man many people have seen in the Cells area, He dissapears as soon as he is seen. Cold spots, Hot spots and lots more to investigate, Our medium Stuart said on our walk round he was picking up on many energies which hopefully we can unravel on our night at Dewsbury Town Hall.
