Follow on Google News | South Plainfield Children and The Tabernacle Church Bring Cheer to the Community! The Tabernacle Church partnered with the local community and businesses to raise over $4,000 to spread holiday cheer.
On Saturday, December 22nd, South Plainfield residents experienced a tradition that has been lost in most recent times. The Tabernacle Church, along with over 30 children from the community, were escorted by Lieutenant Raymond Jazikoff and Lieutenant Philip Aquilina of the South Plainfield Police Department as they traveled through various neighborhoods of the city spreading holiday cheer as they sang Christmas carols door to door-the old fashioned way! Residents of all ages, their families, and even their pets emerged from their homes filled with glee as they sang along to Christmas classics such as “Joy to the World” and “Silent Night”. On Sunday, December 23rd, children and youth from both the community and The Tabernacle Church delivered holiday cheer, in the form of gift and song to developmentally disabled residents of Keystone Community Residence in South Plainfield, NJ. They also served the residents of Ozanam Family Shelter in Edison, NJ. During this Day of Community Giving, children and youth handed out gifts, sang Christmas tunes, and spread a message of love to families and those who would otherwise go overlooked during this season. In total, over $4,000 of merchandise in the form of food, supplies, toys, and clothing was distributed to community residents. “The holidays are about family and hope. Unfortunately during this season there are many who feel lonely, depressed, and left out in light of recent events. The Tabernacle Church made sure we were there during this tough time to let families know that they are loved and can depend on in us,” said De’Andre Salter, Senior Pastor of The Tabernacle Church. The Day of Community Giving attracted local residents and businesses alike who were looking to impact the world by partnering with the mission of The Tabernacle Church this holiday season. There were over 50 donors from individuals and businesses including Pepsi, Hampton Inn-South Plainfield, The Red Cross, Professional Risk Solutions LLC., Back2Ruuts, and Cynthia Salter-Lewis, M.D. Inc. They sponsored gifts and the events that made this holiday jammed packed with community fun! ### About The Tabernacle Church (http://www.thetabernacle.com/ The Tabernacle Church’s vision is to equip people to be intentional with their time, talent, and money to impact the world outside the walls of the church.
