Studio RED Architects Wins Design Competition for Houston’s Saudi Arabian Consulate General Office

Jan. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- Houston, TX -- Studio RED Architects has been selected by the Saudi Arabian Consulates to design the Saudi Consulate General offices through a rigorous design competition with some of Houston’s most notable design firms. In August 2011, Studio RED Architects, along with 3 other architecture firms, was invited by the Saudi Arabian Consulates to design a mixed-use project consisting of a new office building with residential living for their new campus in Houston, Texas.

Studio RED Architects approached the proposal with a plan that consisted of creatively integrating the Saudi Arabian culture into the campus planning and building designs. “We designed the buildings with a heavy influence on historical, Islamic culture,” says Trung Doan, partner at Studio RED Architects. “The experience and usability of the building and campus was our main priority, thus focusing on the uniqueness of the spaces rather than the grandness of one space.”

The award-winning architecture firms’ plan incorporates passive features, focusing on different elements like water, light and landscape to meet the Saudi Arabian Consulates’ vision. “The open design of the building allows for natural light to filter through, while the stone screen provides for privacy,” says Doan.

Trung Doan, AIA, is a founding partner of Studio RED Architects and has accumulated over 20 years of design expertise. His achievements in design have developed into a passion for designing complex projects with a particular emphasis on assembly facilities.
