Follow on Google News | Third Book in DTR Inc.’s Work Readiness Training Series, People Skills, Now Available for PurchaseThis book, People Skills, along with the first two books, Workplace Basics and Workplace Skills, can be used for classroom or on the job work readiness training programs. Certification tests and PowerPoint presentations are also available.
By: DTR Inc. The book starts by teaching communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal (personal signals). The first goal is to eliminate problems that arise because of poor communication skills. After this introduction, the book covers how to get along with co-workers (including behaviors to avoid in the workplace such as gossiping about co-workers), teamwork and the role of the team leader, how to get along with supervisors (including rules to follow), how to meet supervisor's expectations, the value and purpose of performance appraisals, and more. One exercise included in the book is a role reversal exercise where the participants are put in a supervisory position, and have to make decisions regarding their employees. Jay Goldberg is the consultant who developed a work readiness training program called the best work readiness certification program in the United States by a member of the National Skills Standard Board in 2003. He has now completed the third book in his new four module work readiness certification program. The four modules, each with its own textbook, are Workplace Basics, Workplace Skills, People Skills, and Customer Service. At the end of each book are two workplace scenarios where things go right and things go wrong. There will be online certification tests available for each module that ask questions based on these scenarios. All four books teach work readiness from the employer’s perspective. This is very different from most work readiness training material whose materials are from the point of view of the employee. If a training venue or business does not want to use DTR Inc.’s certification process, that venue can use these scenarios as excellent read and discuss exercises at the end of their training sessions. The book is available at Amazon.com and will soon have (or does have) the look inside feature or at the book’s web site http://www.createspace.com/ This book and program were specifically developed for use in the classroom and for on site, on the job training. In addition, DTR Inc. is offering the opportunity for qualified professionals to implement this employee training program in continuing education programs in their geographic locations. So contact Mr. Goldberg if you are an individual who would like to implement work readiness training (propose the program to the school and get paid to teach it from that school), or if you are a venue that wants to implement this program, or are a company that would like to implement a formal on the job work readiness training program. Email Mr. Goldberg at book@DTRConsulting.biz or leave a message on his voicemail, 206-350-1859 to find out how to get all the materials to implement DTR Inc.’s work readiness certification training program.
