Follow on Google News | Trig Modern Opens In Downtown RaleighNew retail concept debuts downtown with the grand opening scheduled for March 1.
By: Trig Modern Located at 328 W. Jones Street in the heart of downtown Raleigh, the expansive store features both new and vintage modern home furnishings, a modern custom kitchen and bath showroom, modern lighting concepts, and original art and objects. It also serves as a working studio and resource for Tripi’s well-established design firm, Lee Tripi Interior Design. Already open to the public, Trig Modern will celebrate its official grand opening on Friday, March 1. The word “trig” is both a British slang adjective for “neat and smart, in appearance,” Lee Tripi explained the concept behind Trig Modern: “Today, people live with a mix of furnishings: Tripi and Drake see their clientele as “the diverse population of the Triangle and North Carolina in general,” Drake said. “People who work and live here come from all areas of the United States and the world. Our well-traveled population is the core of our market. These folks have been exposed to many styles seen around the world.” Trig Modern represents Lee Tripi’s custom label as well as several cabinet fabricators, both domestic and foreign, including Berloni kitchen cabinetry, countertops and appliances. “Berloni’s European-made cabinets are like the finely tuned engine of an Italian sports car,” Tripi noted. “And even though they appear to be expensive, the cabinets are affordable because they’re produced in an assembly line fashion in a highly automated facility.” Tripi and Drake say Trig Modern will be an active member of the local arts community. The showroom features furnishings and objects crafted by local artisans and artists, and Trig participates in Raleigh’s First Friday Gallery Walk. During January's First Friday event, for example, the showroom featured an art exhibit by New York-based pop abstract painter Robert Reitzveld. For the grand opening on March 1, the featured artist will be Tom Warren, whose acrylic abstract paintings capture patterns, textures, and colors from the natural world. There will also be “a drawing for prizes, music, and other surprises,” said Lee Tripi. Trig Modern is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. For more information visit trigmodern.com, email Lee Tripi at lee@leetripi.com, or call 919.516.8744.
